ABOUT THE SOCIETY
The Society, an international
entity, was founded in 2002 to foster, coordinate, develop
and disseminate the scientific, scholarly and educational
activities relating to the study of Byzantine and
post-Byzatnine Music and hymnography.
The Society encourages and promotes the general field of
scholarly and scientific research of issues relating to the
history, the science and the art of Byzantine Music and
hymnography.
The Society will promote also support ecclesiastical and
public education in all areas relevant to its objectives
illustrated above through publications, scientific and
scholarly fora and musicological exhibits/presentations.
Founded in 2002 with the support of the Byzantine Studies
Initiative -a program of the Russian and East European
Studies Center of the University of Pittsburgh, the Society
and its mission have been enriched by those serving on its
advisory body
